New S6 owner

Post by johny1980 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 6:25 pm

Come on guys lets get this forum going.

Picked up my s6 on thursday. Got the train from sheffield from aberdeen and drove all the way home on my tod.

Done 105k but audi fsh

Advertised at £7500. Paid £6800 with full mot and 6 months tax.

Bought it knowing the following.

1. There is a scratch on the front arch but not bad at all.
2. Will need servicing soon.
3. Exhaust is fine and there is no holes or blowing. But, it is quite rusty in parts. Plan to keep car for 3 years which is only 15k ish for me so hopefully it would hold out !!!

At the price i got it was a bit apprehensive but no problems

Done 600-700 miles driving home and a trip yesterday and it aint used a drop of oil. All temp. gauges spot on.

Some questions;

1. When i put the gearbox into triptronic mode and i change up a gear is it ok to keep my foot planted or should i be lifting my foot off then applying accelaration once ive changed gear ? Dont wanna <beep> the box (££££££££££ 's).

2. Anyone on here with performance audis in the aberdeen area. Heard a few bad stories about the audi dealership (specialist cars). I was thinking of using bavaria autowerke. Anyone put their cars in there ?

3. Any tips of ownership from fellow s6 owners owners of car with same 4.2 engine (s8, newer s4)?

she looks tidy, sounds like a good deal, can't help with your questions but I was looking at s6's recently but they are too big for my garage!

thanks mark

another question

ive heard a few bad stories about my local audi dealership and have booked it into a place called bavaria autowerke

ive heard nothing but good stories about them

Its £560 full a full long life service including engine flush and brakes cleaning etc.

Happy with that but unfortunately they dont do the gearbox oil, they said it needs to be doen at audi. Why is this ?

Strangely enough the audi dealership is only £511 for a full service

Im in a mind to just get it done at audi and ask for the gearbox oil to be done ??

Is it important that the gearbox oil is done ? How often should it be done?

Tbh £560 is tooo much for a service. We would charge £422 all in , Cant see why they can't do a gear box service .We charge £200 for a box service with filters and gaskets. grizz

to be honest garages up here are not cheap

i dont have a choice but to put it into one of these 2 as i wouldnt let my local garges near it

£422 is good but im guessing your to far away. where do you stay ?

How often are the gear boxes supposed to be done ?

I might just leave that for a while.

You also never said how much the rs6 exhaust is ?

Johnny,

I have had issues with Aberdeen Audi in the past to the extent that I used Volkscentre in Kingswells for my S4 and now use Highland Audi in Inverness for the RS. Volkscentre are busy and I'm sure I saw somewhere on here that their prices are quite steep now.

Looking at your pics, you are obviously in Stonehaven. Closer to home you may want to consider Firstdrive Cars - have heard some good things about them.

Will look out for you as I live south of Stonehaven
