Temp gauge 100-110

2000 S6 98k. Coolant temp normally 90 starts reading 100-110. No heavy traffic, just combined journeys. Oil & water levels ok. Whats the issue? Water pump? Thermostat? Caskets? Any ideas?

I would get the thermostat looked at , but if your doing that it's time to do the water pump . g
