2 days .... 2 problems

Post by HYFR » Thu Jan 19, 2012 4:45 pm

early days i know but

1. the MPG seems to be worse in the S-Tronic vs. manual

i mean motorway cruising in 7th gear at 85 / 55 (roadworks) in the manual it would have got 30-32 mpg easy ... the S-tronic struggled to get 27mpg

ok ok ok, only 250 miles on the clock, so lets see how it goes

2. in M mode (stick over the left) the car changes up by itself from 3rd to 4th !! :bash:

what the fcuk is that all about ... its meant to be manual ... the TTRS S-Tronic didnt do that, it just hit the limiter like a proper manual

had to try it a couple of times in case id mistakenly hit the paddle

not happy about that ! anyone else found this ?

yes when it happened i thought thats exactly what you said

its rubbish, i mean it wasnt even near the limiter, prob 3/4 up the rev range then it changed by its self!!

Thats not right. Does it change down too if you manually put it in sixth through the SPECS roadworks?

i always put it in 7th gear manual mode through the SPEC's & it will hold the gear

but all Manual mode S-Tronics will change down for you when it needs to, to stop you stalling the car !

You can understand the S4 changing up when it runs into the limiter in manual mode - but certainly not 3/4 way through the rev range!!!

Possibly a milage thing, (does it need running in ;) haha, same eninge and box that was in my S5 cab i think... best option for me was to click to box into 'S' mode then click one of the paddles to engage sport/ manual then i had full control, (although it had already covered 16,000 miles)

Good Luck! :)

Iv already been caught out by it

Got to the top of 3rd coming into a corner, so I click it into 4th to take the corner, bloody car changed up itself a milisecond before I hit the paddle and so the bloody car went into 5th for the corner

Not impressed

So you are not already hitting the limiter with only 250miles on the clock

Was it warm. Seem to remember something like that on the Rs5 that it would change up early regardless I what I was doing when it was cold?

I know you know better than me but just a thought.

I''ve only done 150 miles but tested today. In M it stays in the gear between the limits no matter how I drove it. 2009 model though.
