High beam assist

Post by Pete.S » Wed May 11, 2011 10:43 pm

Any of you guys have & use this?

Great in principle but boy does it annoy the cr*p out of me - unless it's absolutely (and I mean absolutely) pitch black, the system always takes a few precious seconds to revert to high beam once cars have passed the other way, meaning if you're going full pelt down country roads and need full illumination quickly you have to manually overide & wack the stalk back, on such roads thus often mid-manoeuvre. Had a Merc 350 as a loaner for a few days & its system was far more responsive

Nope.

I looked at it in the options list and new it would annoy me as only I know the exact moment I want the lights to lift or drop.

I've not actually tried it but it seems from your post that I may have made the right call ... for me at least.

Yeah I'd say you have. The problem is you can't bypass it if the option is fitted: one push back on the stalk = high beam assist whether you like it or not. Shame cos it's the only thing (well apart from the squeaky brakes) that I don't like about this otherwise awesome car.
