Looks much better with those wheels rather than the standard items.

I feel safer posting this on here rather than on the B7 RS4 forum, but I'm really tempted by the Avant version.
Now don't get me wrong, I love my car, but with used prices heading south so quickly, I'm seriously thinking of getting out and into one of these next spring.
I quite like the idea of an auto for a while, and with a past history of various Porsches, an M3 and a GTV6, the thought of a mere 6 cylinders doesn't bother me.
Will I regret it? Will it be as special as the RS4? Who knows? If I miss it that much, I'm sure there'll be a B8 RS4 along soon...

Nice review but why doesn't anyone mention the handbrake. It's absolutely awful, try it in traffic or a hill start with a manual box, you'll hate it in seconds....

I'm waiting to hear a little more about the B8 S4 and then I think I'll order one for delivery in March. But first I'm waiting for some information from "within" so I know if the block is a good base or not.

I don't think there'll be a B8 RS4, if we follow the current logic, it should be the B9 that will come out as an RS.... but we'll have to wait and see of course

Yep B9 RS is what I've heard too, not enough time to get an RS out now with only one RS model in production at a time.
The Blue Avant looks the business in that link and the review is excellent. I reckon I'd replace my B5 RS with one of these in a few more years as the cockpit and ride quality
will undoubtedly be far superior and with a remap the engine will be good for 400+ bhp

Good write up, thank you for that. Was the report commissioned for AW or did you just blag a test drive?
I've heard the new RS4 will be released in 2010 - dunno if that will be still B8 or B9 by then? Any news on the engine?
