These cars look pretty much production ready, and it appears that the new S4 will have a upgraded S-line body panels with a TTS style rear valance and LED tail lights:

Looks nice and subtle.

Any confirmed news on the engine??

Nothing officially confirmed as of yet. Most informed speculation still suggests 3.0 V6 FSI with valve lift and Roots type IV supercharger from Eaton developing between 333 and 350hp.

Could be easily mistaken for an A5 from the front though...

Exactly! Not distinguishable enough. No way you could level that criticism at the B5 or B6

Take the badges off and there is very little at all that would tell them apart. That is good and bad. My car is mistaken all the time for a std A4 when she is taken at-a-glance, but if you look a little deeper you can tell it is not std.

Something else, take the badges off the rear of the car and compare it against a BMW 3series saloon in silver......could you tell them apart?

I'd rather they focussed any development on the chassis and braking department rather than cosmetics such as bodywork TBH.

Why unfortunatelly? because I for one, would have rather enjoyed a turbo or twin turbo new 3.0 engine for the S4, thinking that a turbo engine would have been a better platform for the next generation RS4 engine development. But with a supercharger, I can almost bet that the next RS4 will have a turbo and a supercharger, much like the 1.4 VW engine, which, don't get me wrong, is great, but is not RS4 material. That's is only me.
Yes, the torque is great, but that much torque will also mean S-TRONIC ONLY for the next RS4, which is both good and bad, depends who drives it...Me, I'm a manual gearbox guy.
