B8.5 Values

Gents (and Ladies),

My brother is wanting to sell his 2012 B8.5 S4 Avant Black Edition, but finding a reliable assessment of it's value is proving to be a struggle. The car's got 91k miles with full service history ('high' for the model but not the age) and good equipment spec, but there's not really enough others for sale to gauge the market. Advertised cars have a range: 125k mile 64-plate wants £14k, an 11-plate car on 80k asking £15k, an 85k 13-plate at £18k and there's a 26k mile pre-facelift expecting £20k! I'd assume that'd put his around the £16k mark, but calling local dealers and the dreaded WeBuyAnyCar it's being valued more like £11k. That can't be right, can it? I know there's going to be a gap between asking prices on ads and offered 'value' to trade, but giving a garage £5k to save the the hassle of private listing just doesn't make sense.

Alternatively, anyone know of any specialists that might be willing to make a more sensible offer for the car?

Cheers
Martin

I'm on the buying side of that at the moment and it's very varied, I guess because it's a low volume market and each different S4 has a story. Whether it's a Cat S with 450hp and 9 owners or an immaculate one owner from new unmodified car, or anywhere in between.

When in doubt I'd go off the We Buy Any Car price plus about 25%. At £11k that gives £13,750. Which sounds about right. Maybe start at £14,000 and be prepared to drop a bit.
