Oil grades

Recently purchased an Audi s4 2010 manual with 55,000 on the clock.
It had a new engine fitted by Audi Aberdeen under warranty at 32,000 miles and has been following the longlife service plan. I gave them a call and they used Mobil 1 esp 5w30. I'm only doing around 7000 max miles per year ...I've been advised by a few well known specialists to change to 50200 spec oil 5w40 and have the car serviced yearly as opposed to the longlife service. I was planning on dropping the oil every year anyway.
Does anybody else use the 502.00 oil or opt for the longlife services ?
I've got 20litres of shell helix ultra 5w40 to use which meets vw 502.00 requirements... Has anybody any thoughts on this
Thanks

The 5w 30 for short life servicing, 5w 40 long life, keep an eye on the levels though on 5w 30 may burn a touch more but either should suffice on an engine of that age.
