What's people's thoughts on these? Anything to look out for? I've heard about the sports diff how can u tell if it definitely has it?

I'm looking at a 09 plate s4 avant with 95k miles hopefully tomorrow. Is there anything of note that I really should be on the lookout for at this mileage?

Next would be mods. I'd definitely be going to MRC for there pulley and remap upgrade. How does the gearbox and clutch etc cope with this?

Any advice would be great as been into the b5's for years

Hi mate,
You won't regret visitng MRC for the stage 2 upgrade when you get one, I have one that's been done and it's amazing. It's been done since 2013 with 44k miles and still on the standard clutch I think with no problems at all and nothing else I can see as a problem to look out for.
Mine doesn't have the Drive Select or the Sports Diff so can't comment on that but does sometimes feel a little vague at the front when pushing it.
I came from a stage 2 B7 RS4 to mine and they're completely different animals but I'd say the S4 is quicker. I gave my mate who has a C6 RS6 a go and he's now got his booked into MRC for some work as he was that impressed that mine felt as quick as his.
Good luck with your search for one.

Thanks for the reply. The one I'm interested in has the drive select comfort auto and dynamic I believe. Does that mean it has the sports diff to? I've read good things about the sports diff so want to move sure it has it but not sure how I can tell. Is it listed in the service book as an option?

No issues with the auto box's then or anything and coping with that power well??

I'm not sure if they have drive select then they automatically have the sports diff too, someone who has a one with it will probably be able to tell you better. It may be listed as an option on the Sticker in the boot but I don't know what the option code would be.
Mine is a manual box so no problems at all coping with the extra power.
Give MRC a call, they've always been very helpfull when I've spoken to them and they'll be able to answer all you need to know.

Mine has the sports diff, it comes up as a separate 4th option under the drive select menu. Well worth it, I took several b7 rs4's out for test drives and preferred the b8 s4. One thing to be aware of if you have the stronic you'll need a separate service in that regularly which isn't cheap so worth budgeting for. Enjoy!

^^^ this.

Press the Car button (by the gearstick), then Audi Drive Select. If Sports Diff is the 4th (last) option, you've got it. If it's not there, you haven't.

My S4 buying advice is simply don't bother - go straight for the RS4.
