Time to replace my front pads after upgrading to the RS5 brakes.

Should I stick with OEM pads or try something else?

Suggestions and web links required pls.

What's your intended use of the car? Road driving or track only or...?

Standard pads are actually pretty good for everyday driving. Ebc yellows work well but dust A LOT. Winmax are awesome but eat through discs and can squeal (and aren't aimed at road use).

No. And IMO standard pads will be plenty, with the least dust.

I have a set of Front Brembo RS5 pads I had on for 70 miles before I switched to EBC yellowstuff pads if of any interest currently sat in my shed gathering dust PM if of interest.

I've tried a few different compounds now.

CL (Carbon Lorraine) RC5+
~£300, supplied to me by Allumy Motorsport

These were fantastic pads, with tonnes of initial bite even from cold and very low dusting. When pushing on they resist fade well and don't go spongy under the pedal when hot. They are reputed to be hard on discs but I believe CL resolved this with their newer compounds, but unfortunately these were very noisy when light braking at low speeds. Otherwise faultless.


Pagid Blue (RS4-2)
~£415, supplied to me by CA Automotive

Much quieter than the CL pads with similar performance traits and low dusting. Really pleased with these and they're currently performing all duties, no need for pad swaps on track days. They do get a tiny bit noisy if they're not 'properly' used for a while, so about once a week after the daily grind I take them out for a proper B-road blast and they're silent again.


OEM Brembo pads
These provided good feel and were totally silent on road, but were dusty and also don't cope with track work - they went very soft and literally melted onto the discs, leaving nasty deposits which needed to be skimmed off. You could run these for daily use and swap out to the more aggressive Pagid RS29 for track days for a more dedicated setup.

If anyone has a set of spare pads which they are willing to part with give me a shout pls.
