Hi all,

After much research and hunting I found that for my financial circumstances it was cheaper to buy new than to go for a second hand car (pcp deal).

Used a few brokers websites like broadspeed and car wow. Armed with these competitive offer I went to a dealer to do a deal.

Turns out they had a brand new unregistered sepang blue avant with a few choice extras, pan roof, advanced key, ss seats, tech high.

Over the moon with the deal I got. Cant wait until the weekend when I pick it up.

Thanks, I was initially hung up about getting a sports diff but on another thread I posted about that topic some members gave me their true life experiences.

TBH, having driven the car I can say for my style of driving I will not miss the diff. Yes it would have been a nice to have but I think I will enjoy all the other bits that this car has.

Can't wait until Saturday.

On monthly payments on PCP deal a 31k car at 11.9% APR was costing me the same as a new one with a single digit APR rate.

New car dealer contribution 5x that of a used one plus an additional discount on top.

Factor in when i sell it on in about 2 years it is more desirable than a 4 year old one as it still has warranty. I think my maths were right. Secondly, the missus who is an accountant double checked the figure so no man maths in this case lol.[WHITE SMILING FACE]

Evil apr. I was trying to compare a 40k car against a 20k used and how that could be cheaper :p

Not really comparable is it? A £20k used car is likely 4yrs old and 40k miles vs. a brand new car.

As posted, a brand new car vs a 1/2yr old car = cheaper to go new due to APR, GFV, Finance Contribution and Dealer Discount

It was the cheaper comment that made me giggle.

As an aside, I don't do loans/thus apr. Cash all the way. Real man maths there :p

For my sutuation it made sense. PCP is not ideal for everyone. If you plan on changing the car regularly then it can make sense.

For those of you that are interested in buying new vs nearly new please do your homework.

Was not trying to start an arguement about this. For me, I'm very happy.

11.9% !!!! Gulp!!!!

6k cash deposit and 25k personal loan from a high street lender would have been another option. 3.6% is roughly the best you can hope for atm. Some will have early repayment charges, worth checking if you are only planning keeping it two years. I know my mortgage lender doesn't charge early repayment on personal loans. Added benefit of this route - the car will show finance free on a HPI - handy if you end up selling privately.

Looks fantastic. I have been swinging wildly between various options over the past few weeks and was just about to pull the trigger on a golf r estate. But I couldn't get the S4 out my mind. I've adjusted my spec down a bit and am just finalising the deal on one now!

The tech pack is now standard equipment for my16 and I have made do with the standard seats but saved me 3k which is nice!

Having seen this in Sepang, it has totally made my mind up on colour though! Looks absolutely ace!
