Starting with mods or swap the car?

Post by DazN » Tue Oct 07, 2014 7:38 am

Hi

Having owned my B8 since Jan I'm just not feeling it as I thought I would, I went from a B7 RS4 to and E90 M3, then into my S4. Possibly a bit of a step down from both previous cars.

I'm thinking of selling and look at cars all the time, at the moment I'm liking the C63, probably just for the noise it makes.

Then I started looking at modifying mine, exhaust, wheels, remap?

Just seen / heard a Milltek clip, sounded very good, then saw the pics of the S4 with 20" V spoke wheels, very nice again.

My car has £12k of optional extras, is low mileage and runs very well, am I better keeping and trying to make it into the car I want or do I sell and go for a C63, B8 RS4, RS5????

Cheers

Daz

Do you have full ADS including the rear diff on the S4? For me when I looked at a few this was a must, the cars without did not feel as planted or as communicative, etc. see if you can have a go in someone's car that has had the stage 2 remap with pulley and exhaust. At around 500bhp they go very well and sound great.

Hi Daz I was in the same boat as you I have a B8 S5 cab like you say felt like it was missing something so I set about moding my car running stage 2+ now you would not recognise the car as it is totally transformed from what it was.the car hopefully will be down at ADI this weekend I'm about 25 mile from Manchester if you wanted to meet up it will give you some ideas what can be done to yours it is very heavily modified

Would you be interested in a potential swap for another B8 S4 S-Tronic saloon with MRC stage 2 tune but less toys? I'm intrigued to see what this sports diff everyone raves about is all about.

Nice offer but no thanks, if I decide to sell I'm sure mine will go quickly with the extras it has.

I did get quite a good spec with mine, I wanted ADS with sports diff, but also wanted a plain coloured (not two tone) interior so managed to find one with those and super sports seats. As I said the optional extras list was £11,900 when it was new!

Basics:-
2009 (59)
S-Tronic
35,000 miles
Just had 35,000 service with s-tronic fluid change

My list of extras:-
Audi Drive Select with Super Sports Diff
Super sports seats with heating, seats in black and not two tone!!
Exterior mirrors: with memory function, automatically dimming, electrically foldable/adjustable/heated
Electric slide/tilt sunroof with sun screen/sunblind
Park distance control, front and rear with rear view camera
Dynamic steering
Leather trimmed multi-function sports steering wheel with Tiptronic and "S" badge
19's (segment spoke alloys, the expensive ones)
Flat tire indicator
Electric seat adjustment for both front seats, drivers seat with memory system

I could live with that, I work from home and only do 90 miles a week!! I fill my car up now every 2-3 weeks, with a C63 it would be every 10 days :D

Hi S5 Tony, I'm not sure I want / need anymore power than I currently have, it's more about the noise it doesn't make!! Coming from my last two cars which were both v8's hasn't been easy.

I'm away this weekend but if you're available another time that would be great, do you have a different exhaust on yours?

Mine came in around £2700 but we ran in to fitting issues to cut a long story short it ended up melting the back bumper ended up sending it to another person I know who spent 7 days reshaping it as it was catching on the gearbox and wishbones so the final price came in at yes wait for it 5k

Iv done a full RS5 body conversion on mine so it had to be lifted at the back to go through the ovals but all this was mentioned in several emails before I bought it and was told it would be fine I had a miltek on before and that was fine but recently read on other forums that other people have had issues on the s5 but havnt seen any on the s4 I'm led to believe they are 2 different shapes just wondered if they are using the same exhaust to cover both models ?
