Has anybody come to a B8 S4 from a B5 RS4. I wondered how they compared in terms of straight line speed, general driving characteristics and fuel consumption. I used to have a B5 RS4 with an MTM remap, so about 420 bhp, which I found quite adequate. Looking at performance stats on the internet the standard B8 S4 and standard B5 RS5 do not appear too dissimilar in terms of straight line performance and the new car appears similarly tunable to a stage 1 level. I assume the B8 would be better on the road, but fuel consumption, I don't know. I used to get about 25 mpg overall from the RS4 in my normal driving. I'm contemplating buying the B8 S4 as a day to day car with about 20-25,000 a year in mind. Your thoughts please folks.

S4 Comparison Query
Re: S4 Comparison Query
Had mine about a month now and will also probably cover about 20 k per year. It's a well built, comfortable car with lots of toys and a very refined and capable engine. Coming from a BMW130i it's faster and roomier but at first didn't feel as direct and chuck able. It's a bit more grown up. But as I've got used to it the handling really impresses and it certainly sticks to the road (I have the sports diff and ADS). But I still 'feel' the extra 200kg. Comes alive after 3000 revs.
Economy wise I'm averaging 27 mpg but I don't really do much loon driving. On a decent run you can just get into the 30s but in traffic and at lower speeds the economy is pants.
The super sports seats are worth having, and the BandO stereo is really very good. Watch out for various MMI options as they are a minefield and expensive to change afterwards.
And of course it's very tuneable. Even as standard Audi seem to have understated power output. My early 2009 manual puts out 360 rather than the stated 333ps. But not for long as an easy remap beckons
