ADS owners - moving from adaptive dampers to coilovers

Post by jaygemson » Wed Mar 05, 2014 2:19 pm

My car was originally spec'd with adaptive dampers which were replaced with Ohlins coilovers as part of the Revo STaSIS Challenge pack. Unfortunately this leaves you with an annoying beep accompanied by a suspension warning message on the DIS when you start the engine, and then a constant yellow shock absorber icon at the top of the DIS whilst driving. How Revo can justify this is an acceptable way to leave a car after a full conversion I don't know :bash:

There was no way that I was willing to live with that, but I love the coilovers, so a solution was needed. I was reliably informed that this could not be coded out and I'm not aware of any successful attempts at eliminating this warning via VCDS or otherwise. KW have a solution though - their electronic damping cancellation kit specifically designed for the S4/S5, part number 68510144.

At £270 it's not cheap but their equipment is very well made and the kit as a whole is well thought out. You receive four modules, each of which are pretty hefty for their size, encased in what appears to be black anodised aluminum. Each module has a male 2-pin OEM Audi plug which provides a solid water-tight connection to the existing female plug on each corner of the car.

Finally, you use the supplied brackets, clips and cable ties to safely mount the modules to the car. It took me around an hour to fit all four and I can happily report that they work a treat - no more warning lights! Nice one KW :jump_clap:
