Buying new and modifying at MRC

Post by DazN » Sun Aug 11, 2013 10:08 am

Hi,

I've just about sold my current E90 M3 and am taking a few months out of car ownership, however I've already decided that early next year I'll be looking for a B8 S4.

I like the facelift features which I believe are on the 62 plate onwards?

My dilemma is do I buy a non-facelift version for less money and get it to MRC for the full stage 2 (pulley etc) + milltek or look for a newer version, I'm unsure if doing such modifications is a good idea on a car still under dealer warranty?

Thanks!!

MRC are still developing their software for the FL. I was told a few weeks ago they hope to have it ready for late September / October.

Only stage 1 will be available at first. Stage 2 being developed after they are happy stage 1 is OK.

Your only option for stage 2 would be APR, but they produce less power and most on here swear by MRC.

I wasn't aware there were any mechanical / engine difference between the facelift versions, I thought it was all cosmetic?

Get the facelift, enjoy it for a bit as standard and then get the mrc/apr treatment when it's available? Even as standard, it's a quick car.

Revo had a brand new S5 at AITP today with a map, exhaust and intake. 0-60 in 3.84s without pulley upgrade. Similar can be had from the facelift S4. Can be done through ODB port as well.

Nicky, I spoke to a Revo agent last month and they said it was an ECU out job on the FL. Who did you talk to? would be interested in an OBD map myself :)

I think they only released the ODB port thing a week ago. A Revo agent in Bristol told me as did the agents yesterday. Give the another call mate.

Nice one Nicky - rang our local agent this morning, and they have just had the software released to them this week! So I've bit the bullet and booked in for Friday :biggrin3:

Daz N - I'll let you know how it goes. :FIREdevil:

They are going to map it running 95 Ron on Friday, because I have a full tank of the stuff and I'm not going anywhere. Then I'm switching to Super (99Ron) and they said they will re-map it to that for free after the car has run a couple of tanks through it. They also will switch the maps for free at servicing time.

Amazing! I look forward to a write up. Are you just getting the software? The miltek non-res sounds nice if you're going down that route as well.

Good luck, will be interesting to hear what difference it makes.

So do you have the FL version of the S4?

Yeah, great car but like most cars just needs a little extra (about 100 horses extra  )

How are you finding the car with the Revo remap. .do they still offer the SPS unit so you can switch to stock settings come service time. I found this a great feature on my Revo remapped mk2 TT .?
