when i purchased my s4 before viewing the car i was told it didn't have the sports diff, it has the dynamic steering and damper control but when i looked in the mmi to my surprise the sports diff was on it.

Is there any other way of knowing or what's the chances of it being on the mmi but not fitted? I got the car from audi main stealer so would of thought the diff would of been a selling point in the ad.

My MMI allows me to alter the dynamic steering but doesn't have it fitted... Go figure.

Think there is a way to get the option codes from somewhere in the car. Best way to check I think.

On a similar note. Has anyone actually pushed their S4 so hard that they've notice it on the public roads?

Yes, taking any bend at speed, the car feels a lot like its on rails. Now, I've not driven one without, but the cornering feels very solid and assured. On slip roads joining an M way I now push the noisy pedal more and more.

It would be nice to think so but if gangstarr says hes got the DS on the MMI but not fitted to the car maybe mine could be the same with the diff!

The diff wasn't listed on the spec sheet on the advert plus when i checked with the sales women she said it didn't have it so i accepted that it wasn't on the car till i had a look on the MMI.

I need to look into this more or blag a drive in one with and without it fitted.

In dynamic on cars without the variable ratio dynamic steering option the weight is the only thing that can be adjusted. Take the car out for a spin with the diff in dynamic and give it some gas round a roundabout, you'll feel the diff pushing you round.

Sports diff is epic

Had my RS 5 on track over Easter and it handled like no other quattro (excluding R8), the rear really pushes the car through the corner and you feel the rear balance and so can adjust inputs as necessary. Normal quattro just gets grip grip grip then understeer....with the diff you get lots of grip and less understeer.

Very noticeable on track and gives confidence for road driving.

Does the S4 have the crown locking centre diff as well as the torque vectoring rear?

RS 5 is a great car on track for what it is (a fat bastard)

I believe the S4/5 have the crown diff as standard on the FL cars. Could be talking nonsense though.

Agree, the sport diff is what makes the car such a great drive. No surprise all the positive reviews of the S4 have it specced. It shifts it much more into neutral / oversteer, which is great.

OP if you can configure the diff via MMI then you have it.

Cheers for the info lads, will take it out for a good blast on my own as normally got the nippers sat in the back when im out in it,the missus gets the pleasure of driving it throughout the week while im in me van

Never had an audi before so the way they drive is kind of new to me!

Sounds promising that ive got it though as will be the ideal spec now apart from no SS seats.

Need to get round to ringing its neck on the track tbh.

Phone another dealer and ask them to check spec for you against reg plate if current dealer useless, anybody should be able to give you a print out

You will notice it, particularly at a roundabout where you can feel the front tucking in
