S4 Recall (potentially)

Post by Nickyboy » Tue Feb 19, 2013 10:45 am

Following my ongoing issues with my S4 in a previous thread and due to issues such as recorded by me this morning:

http://youtu.be/ebtu_fMd6j0

I have been made aware there may be a recall launched soon to sort out the brakes. I think he said TSB or TRSB, something along those lines.

I have told Audi I do not want the car until it is sorted and they can keep it until it is resolved. I am awaiting a call from the service manager. I will keep you posted on developments.

I don't know about dodgy noises from the car, there's some strange noises coming from you Nicky. Is there a female down there out of shot? :jump:

Had a call from Audi UK and they are trying to source me a car 'S4 or above' to use until mine is resolved. They spoke to the factory and yes something is being done to resolve this but as of yet nothing is sorted. Could be a while I don't have mine for.

Lets hope they can 'find' an RS4 :) I'm sure you could put up with one of those for a while.

Those brakes do sound shee-ite though.

Yes I'm sure I could put up with one of those. It would be lovely to see if the increase in price is worth it. I expect to get another S4 though.

Had a call from Audi UK and they are going to put me in a Q7 TDI and then try and source me a S4/5. They expect to have my car for a few weeks until something is done about it. What a pain.

Is there any way I can just sack this car off without massive charges?

S4 Recall (potentially)

Post by gangstarrrrr » Tue Feb 19, 2013 7:12 pm

A few weeks???!!! That's ridiculous. Why so long? I would not want to leave it with them for that long. I'd be worried some junior techie will take it for a joyride or the paint getting damaged.

There is precedent for pushing Audi to take your car back without you getting too burned, an elevated trade in if you like. Think they do it as a good will gesture on problematic cars.

As i said before i felt like you when i first had my car and had months of trouble with it ,keep complaining to audi uk get some more free servicing and perhaps new tyres because you said previously the geometry was out they will want to keep you happy, you will be glad to get it back after driving the Q7 good luck and keep complaining until its sorted to your satisfaction :audibash:

It will take ages because they haven't got a fix that they can implement yet.

I have asked if I can hand the car back and yes it is an option. As it stands these are my options:

1. Wait for them to sort mine and put miles on their Q7/S4/S5. Could take weeks. I have told I could get compensation of some sort.
2. Get them somehow to take the car back without penalty.
3. I also asked about swapping cars and they said I may be able to get a discounted different car. S5 or S4 are options.

As it stands I've lost faith in Audi but don't really want to go BMW or Merc but its another option. I've been advised to wait a bit and see what happens. As there isn't a fix it won't be sorted quick which is bloody annoying.

What would you guys do?

Give them one more chance.

Take the Q7. I had top spec Sline plus whilst waiting for my RS and actually quite enjoyed it. Much better than the old one

Pile the miles on theirs and wait for yours to come back

They need to offer increased compo for additional hassle of not having your own car.

Good luck

if you like the car and are going to run it fora few more years I would go for the first option and get free servicing and perhaps tyres,if you have no faith in your particular car and still want to stay with audi go for a discounted car in the speck you want could be a long wait and stay in the loaner until they find a car for you,i wouldn't bother with bmw ,as you know ive had mercs before the c63 is a good car but running costs will be double that of your s4.Take time and think things over and don't rush and make a decision you will regret.
