New B8 S4 owner..... soon!

Hello all,
I am soon collecting one of these, and wanted to say hi to other owners.
A few years back I was lucky enough to run a B7 RS4 :biggrin3:
When looking for a new car recently I was planning to get either a Golf R or a S3, hadn't even considered the S4
I have bought one which has low miles and not a bad spec but it does not have the sat nav or all the adjustable gubbings and I note lots of owners saying they must have these.
From my point of view the car has everything that I need, my RS4 and Cayman S both had all the jucy extras and I used them precisely about, well maybe once!
Not looking to be controvertial guys but in public road driving how often will you push a S4 hard enough to benefit from the trick diff or adjustable suspension, come on really? These extras are great if you plan to track your car but I don't and never will. Years ago my 2005 STi PPP had the adjustable power distribution and I never touched it the whole time I had it :bash:
So my S4 has the nice seats, B&O, AMI, carbon fibre inlays, manual gearbox (thought about DSG but nahh), black grill surround, park assist and cruise. Is there such a thing as the S4 brake pack?
What is important is that it has this awesome 3.0 supercharged V6 and quattro all wheel drive :jump:
Very quiet in here as I seem to remember from my RS4 days.

Cheers mate, looking forward to getting this car and compairing it to my RS4.
Sounds like the engine puts out more power than stated, a nice change from the RS4 :audibash:

D_K Yes I've read that with just an intake and tune they hit 450 +
That is something else, might just keep it standard until the warranty is finished at the end of this year, after that, who knows
Whilst I loved the RS4 it was a little disappointing that they were running a little low on the claimed power
Great to be getting one that is the other way around, don't they say these put out about 350 - 360 rather than the stated 330?

Longdog in all honesty I think that is what attracted me to it, real top notch sleeper car. Incredible grunt in a very discreet package.
I simply hadn't considered them having had a RS4, didn't see any point, then I read a couple of comments about how quick they are and about how strong the SC'd V6 is and that was me sold. :beerchug:

Welcome and congrats.

Me personally, I use ADS quite a bit. On long motorway drives its in comfort mode. When I'm on my own it goes in individual or dynamic!

The sports diff is great too, I do notice the difference when cornering or taking a roundabout.

That having been said, the car is phenomenal without those settings anyway. It's seriously quick and the tuning potential is huge.

gangstarrr - Thanks, I agree with your comments and you are right of course. For me having all the extras would have been nice but a pristine low mileage car will do me fine. I'm not a racing driver so the car will out do me in it's ability which I like, nothing like a little margin for error, if you get my drift.
With the electric sports heated seats, B&O with iPod connection and dab radio, etc and cruise and park assist, I will be happy enough. I've taken a few years out of driving high performance luxury cars so will be nice stepping back into a quality vehicle.

I don't have the diff and pushed it very hard the other day and it was fine. Can't see me ever pushing it harder.

Welcome aboard Les.

I've just got a 3month old S4 with pretty much the spec you've got. All the luxury bits & bobs. Very nice it is too :kissmyrings:

I haven't been able to give it full beans yet, praying this snow goes some time soon :FIREdevil:

As you said, what a sleeper of a car. I reckon a year or so & I'll be knocking on MRC's door.

Cheers guys, I'll let you know what I think of the car once I have it, should be about two weeks.
Will happily compare to my RS4 and Cayman S and tell it as I see it.
Looking forward to it.

I've had a dash with a cayman S and low down I had him, mid range about the same and at higher speeds he started to move ahead.

Welcome on board Les. Whatever the spec you're correct the base car is stonkingly good. Look forward to you posting some snaps. Incidentally, what colour did you go for and is it a saloon?

mojo there is some debate on the colour but I think its meteor grey pearl effect and yes a saloon. My RS4 was a saloon also, I just prefer them I guess.
nicky with the cayman S I would say it would spank a RS4 on a dry twisty road if both were driven by equally skilled drivers, stupendous grip and thrust from it's flat 6 and great balance. RS4 better at everything else, damp roads, wet roads, snow, practicality and ohh that V8 :jump_clap:
I am keen to drive the S4 for comparison but they sound very good indeed, I will let you know what I think.
