Octane rating

Just wanting to know what fuel the S4 needs. I really don't want a long
'which fuel is best' debate as we all have our preferred brand. More interested in which Octane Audi recommend for the stock S4, and whether higher grades are of any benefit.

Always the same answer; it will run on 95 but ideally 98.

If you want full potential then 98 (or 99), the manual will say it along with the inside of the petrol cap.

I do realise you don't have one btw, was simply pointing out where it will be documented / stamped.

This is wrong. If you want full potential out of the S4 use 95 RON. Doug at MRC made this point and I also tested it and I have to say to me 99 was absolutely pointless.

If you looked about half way down the B8 S4 section you would have come across this thread. Take a look:

Cool, been using Tesco's 99 for the last 2 years in the Octavia so this will help offset the S4's thirst. :D

You may be pleasantly surprised as mine is as economical (much better on a steady run) as my Skoda was.

Probably why a stage 1 map and filter gave 462bhp to a member on here.

Ah yes, that makes sense if it's being specifically held back.
