Potential new order

Post by 999pooch » Thu Jan 03, 2013 1:34 pm

Hi everyone, I have been seriously looking at placing an order for a FL S4 for the last few months. After mulling over specifications, trawling the internet and lurking on various forums I have just about narrowed it down to what I think would suit me best. Oh, and SWMBO has given me the authoritive nod so all is well :)

So here it is :

Estoril Blue
Black edition
19" five segment alloys
Saloon
Black / lunar super sports seats
Advanced Tech Pack
Sports Differential
Sound Pack

I know the options are a personal thing but it would be great to hear the opinions of actual owners, as I might have missed something or added uneccessary items. I can't afford any schoolboy errors!

My thoughts are to buy using DtD, as this comes in at a shade over £38k.

This will be my biggest car purchase to date, although I am planning to keep at least 4-5 years hence why I want to get it right.

I am coming from a Skoda Octavia vRS (petrol), mapped to stage 1 and love it. So this seems like a natural progression.

BTW seem to recognise a couple of users here from the Brisky forum - nickyboy & longdog to name a couple.
Lots of rubbish cars slowly progressing to a nice shiny S4

Welcome aboard

I'm not massively up to speed on the S4 specs but your proposal sounds good

550superfast on here has the interior combo you mention and it is stunning and I would have had it myself if it had been an option, I've just got the lunar.

I also don't know if advanced tech pack is same as the RS one but a lot of the stuff is gimmick.

I had the lane control on for the first day and haven't used it since and the adaptive cruise control is nice but not worth the money. I don't regret having it as I wanted a fully spec car but could the money be spent better elsewhere or saved!

Potential new order

By 5segments do u mean the Rotor wheels? I wouldn't pay anything for other wheels, the rotors are awesome!

Tech pack advanced is nice and a must have IMO. I don't think its the same as the RS 4 pack as the RS 4 has sat nav as standard etc, and so goes that extra level with the pointless lane assist etc.

I'd love to see a Condor Grey S4 black edition

No I think he means the RS6 5 segment which I prefer to the rotors ! :)

Had a quick look on website and tech pack advanced is similar to rs4. On the nav on mine it upgraded nav from DVD to HDD

Nice spec and a great move from the vrs, you won't need to spec the sound back as it's standard on the black edition. The tech pack advance is the same on the S an RS and IMHO ADS, sport diff and super sport seats are a must.

So you get adaptive cruise and lane assist in the tech pack advance on the S4?????

There is no point paying EXTRA for the 5seg wheels. Just buy them from ebay.de and sell your rotors. Net cost of zero vs. Whatever Audi want to charge you? £600+?

Yes it would appear that there is a tech pack high and a tech pack advanced.

The advanced has the lane control (rubbish) and adaptive cruise (ok but not necessarily worth it) in it.

Ok, so then tech pack high is a must IMO.

Skip the advanced

Very similar spec to mine down to the colour.

Get ADS, I think you have to have it with the sports diff anyway. Damper control is nice for when the family are in the car. Convenience package handy for when the mrs drives it. Skip the hill hold assist, useless IMO. Tech pack high + Bluetooth prep high will give you nav on google maps, mind the nav is pretty rubbish regardless.

You won't be disappointed, the S4 is a lovely car.

Also if you're going for the black edition, it already includes the sound pack, no need to add separately.

Pooch. I'm sure we spoke on Briskoda when I also had a stage 1 VRS. Nice choice. The S4 is a huge jump.
2014: 8V S3, Scirocco (mistake)
2013: B8 RS 5, 3.0T S5 coupe, B8 S5 cab - temp, B8 S4 avant
2011: 2.0T FL Octavia VRS
2010: 1.8T Octavia VRS

Looks good to me, especially if the sport diff gives you ADS as standard
