Collected the car yesterday, loving the performance, a real step up from the wife's mini! Love the estoril crystal colour.
However the muppet valeters have left quite a few swirls on the paint which is a bit annoying. Had thought about telling them not to wash the car but thought better of it... Didn't kick up too much of a stink as its being detailed this weekend.
Will get some pics up soon. Is there any app on the iPhone to obscure the reg plate?

Was thinking on asking dealer to not touch the paint. What products will you use for the detailing?

I'm getting it done professionally mate. It's getting some ceramishield nano sealant to allow for a longer finish. Unfortunately I think it's going to need some rotary polishing done before the sealant can go on.
Definitely don't get the dealer to do anything with the paint.
Also what was the mileage for other S4 owners on pick up? This had 40 odd miles - hope it hadn't been taken for a demo or joyride!

My recent purchase A6 had 14 miles. I wouldn't worry about the mileage. 40 is low enough I'm led to believe they
move cars by road sometimes.
It's appalling that every new at I've owned has had paint problems from new.
This is because they employ people on minimum wage to wash their cars an expect them to crack through each one in 5 minutes or less.
At my local BMW I saw a guy washing with an exposed belt buckle and a jumper with metal zippers just leaning across the cars without a care in the world. Sorry but that's just not acceptable. What does it cost for a protective jump suit? or at the very least have policies that say all car washers must wear appropriate clothing. track
pants and a plain jumper will do.
No surprise my Beemer had <beep> paint.

+1 on the ceramishield. Got it on the Nissan and it is holding out really well. Worth getting the paint in A1 condition before applying.

How long have you had it on the GTR Phil and what sort of mileage have you done?

Haven't heard of ceramishield, was considering Gtechniq. Anyone here with experience / knowledge of both that could tell me the difference? 2

Think they're pretty similar in that they're both nano sealants. Happy to be corrected though.

Service from the dealer was actually excellent (via drive the deal) however the damage to the paint was galling even more so as its a special S4 colour and the fact I was given a blue grommet AMI cable. Having been lurking on the forums I knew the red grommet cable was newer and allowed video playback. Was promptly told the red was only for RS cars which is of course bollocks.
I've found the appropriate proof on the Audi.de website and will be seeking a replacement.
Was also told steaming over Bluetooth was only available on a few Audi lines and not the S4. It was the one feature I'd been looking forward to the most and so was pretty pissed off it wasn't available. I fiddled around and found the setting half way through the journey back. I wish they'd train these guys better not to make incorrect statements. Otherwise service was excellent.

Blue / red grommet cable? Steaming over Bluetooth? What do I need to know for when I collect my car??

What spec do you have?
If you have AMI you can connect an iPod/iPhone/iPad to charge it and play music/video. This is the cable I discuss.
Alternatively you can play music off your phone by streaming it over Bluetooth depending on which tech pack you have.

If you have Tech pack high spec'd then make sure you get the red grommet cable, I had to ask for mine and it works very well. The streaming also works a treat but as the car also has an iPod connection, cd and DAB I tend not to use it.
I read a post on Pistonheads the other day in which a member stated that the S4 is the best all round car that Audi currently makes and after 6 months with mine I think I may agree.
Enjoy your car and get some pics up!
