Is it possible (don't have the brochure in front of me!) to spec the sports diff without ads? Is such a combination desirable?

I am looking at an fl B8 with the diff but without ads or the damper control, allegedly and just wonder if this spec is credible.

No. Its not possible. ADS is the interface that controls the three options - diff, dampers, steering. You cannot order any of them without ADS. Therefore a car that allegedly has the diff will have the ADS buttons on the dash and the ADS MMI page.

Damn,

Thanks for confirming my fears Ian!

Here's the offending ad:

No buttons on dash. The diff isn't standard unless the config is wrong

Don't think thats right.

ADS controls-

Dampers
Steering
Gearbox

Did in the loaner I had for a few days anyway.

Differential is a separate option & can be added independently to ADS, I looked at this when speccing my S4 :)
Lots of rubbish cars slowly progressing to a nice shiny S4

There was a chap on here that was frustrated at having the sport diff spec'd but not ADS.

Well I drove the car today. Awesome: pleasing exhaust sounds, more than enough performance, planted and everything I needed. But, surprise surprise, no diff.

If I hadn't heard about ads and the diff, I would have gone for it. I can only imagine how great a full specification s4 is.....But I can't spend 40k knowing key elements of the appeal are missing. Onwards with the search.

If you're going to spend 40k why not get an RS 5 or hold out a little longer for an RS 4? I realised this just after I got a 48k S5.

It also allows someone else to take the main depreciation hit as well.

The step up is well worth it.

Agree ADS controls dampers (optional), dynamic steering (optional) and gearbox (if S tronic), but ADS definitely controls the diff too if the car has it.

The B8 RS4 I drove had five to play with on the ADS MMI screen - the fifth being adaptive cruise

Disagree you can order the diff alone without ADS.

Audi configurator and brochure both state that the diff can only be selected with ADS.

This is for the FL models and I cannot comment on the pre-FL models; I would assume it's the same though.

I would love to. It's a head v heart struggle though. Head wins at the moment and the s4 has more of a stealth factor. Turning up on a clients its with an RS may cause some eyebrows to be raised......

Does this mean you can't control the sport diff if you don't have the Nav?
