I think 550superfast on here had a similar issue when he picked up his S4 recently

Ok folks this has escalated

He came back to me saying that it was my problem and he would drop the price by £100!!!!!!
In the same email he said the deposit was "no refundable" which I assume he meant to be non refundable. This was never the case as I would never agree to such a thing but he seemed very desperate in his tone but after his claim he would with hold my deposit the deal was over for me.
As yet he has not returned my cash and I intend to take this much further but am trying to be reasonable and have agreed that he can retain £100 of the £500 deposit. His atitude killed the deal. He did come back angrily, after I told him the missing key was his issue and he had withheld information, and said he would offset the full cost but there was no way forward for me after his behaviour.
Anybody want comment?
It's not the money, it's his behaviour and attitude that has my back up.

Are you looking to live with him or buy a car? If the car ticks all boxes in terms of features and price point, then have him take care of the missing key and be happy with the car?

If you want to start another search, perhaps ending with an equally less than charming seller, then you know the option.

Can't walk away, plan to take it to small claims if he doesn't play ball next week.
Deposit was never agreed as non refundable, missing items were not disclosed in advertising or our discussions and his behaviour was out of order. Made it impossible for me to complete the sale. I agreed to him retaining 20%, that's more than enough.
As you say lesson learnt but not over, trust me.
