I have 265/30/20 instead of 255/30/20 so same height of rubber as 255/35/19 which means the same ride quality with my 20s as OEM 19s.
I must need a new calculator !!!!

Cos mine says;

255/35 gives a sidewall height of 89.25mm
265/30 gives a sidewall height of 79.50mm

which is more than 10% reduction in an already harsh tyre, so not sure I would agree. Only 1% speedo under-read which is good though.

Ok maybe I got the actual height bit wrong but the principles the same; go for a wider tyre to lessen the impact. 275/30 will be even less difference and still only a 1.8% change overall.
However, if you think the tyre was harsh to start with then 20s might not be for you. I didn't think the ride on the OEM 19s was harsh at all and it feels no harsher now with 20s (albeit with a higher profile that I'd have if I went for an exact rolling radius match).

No, not actually fitted yet Mike. Some cosmetics and spacing R&D to carry out before I really get to test the ride quality.
I'd add that, along with sidewall height, other factors obviously come into play such as tyre compound/construction, tread depth, alloy width, suspension setup, alloys/brakes weight, vehicle weight, personal preference, etc.
Some of these will apply to a direct comparison between otherwise OEM setup, some won't, but you get my drift! :-)

Fitted now and I like them. You notice things like cats eyes more on the motorway but no worse than even my largely standard Cupra!

I did put a message on their page on here to try and find out the list of mods required and advised to achieve this but am yet to hear back. Be interested to hear from Saint400 or any others who know the answer to this question and highlight what is a must and what is optional.

Many thanks

Hi s4won when I had it on the Dyno it was doing 400awhp but it wasn't running right it was suffering from gear change lag it kept dropping off when it was changing gear. to be honest it wasn't nice to drive so it went back in and they mapped the box APR sent a file over from the states now it will hold to around 7100 rpm and much smoother and quicker it's never been back on the rolling road since as the car was away for around 8 months having the body work conversion. Hoping to go stage 3 next year when it's released and yes it's running stage 2+ APR

Not bad, just curious but i assume you are aware of MRC and thier wizardry? If not, I would strongly recommend you speak to doug first before going stage 3 with apr.

My guess is money is not an object, but hypothetically if you can get 500 awhp from MRC today at a quarter of the cost of the stage 3 from MRC, it may get your attention.., let us know how you get on.

I'm afraid we have surpassed my technical knowledge at this point! What I can say is that I've probably read every thread on the internet about mrc, apr, giac (US) and others.

And my conclusion is that the story on apr is mixed, both here and abroad and is definitely *not* a custom tune (to the car) but MRCs definitely is,

Also that stage 3 will set u back significant cash (and the wait), so if i were you, id check all options. I have a b8 s4 and am seriously considering mods and will definitely be going to MRC if the time comes
