What spec do you have?

If you have AMI you can connect an iPod/iPhone/iPad to charge it and play music/video. This is the cable I discuss.

Alternatively you can play music off your phone by streaming it over Bluetooth depending on which tech pack you have.

AMI and Tech Pack Advanced, so i guess need to make sure I get the red cable as well...

longdog wrote:If you have Tech pack high spec'd then make sure you get the red grommet cable, I had to ask for mine and it works very well. The streaming also works a treat but as the car also has an iPod connection, cd and DAB I tend not to use it.

I read a post on Pistonheads the other day in which a member stated that the S4 is the best all round car that Audi currently makes and after 6 months with mine I think I may agree.

Enjoy your car and get some pics up!
What kind of MPG do you see and has it improved since new? I can almost see the fuel needle move when I put my foot down...

I've averaged just over 21mpg(according to the DIS), I do very little motorway miles but it is improving. I'm now getting almost 300 miles per tank after 5000 miles, I was getting just over 300 from my Octavia vrs which had a similar size tank.
I have tried driving economically but the car doesn't like it!

A few responses;

1. I have had a full detail from Paul Dalton at Miracle Detail in Surrey using G-Technic2, I think he calls it. Remarkable gloss finish and his work is outstanding - perfectly flat paint with zero swirls. Only been on since May but a dream to wash as dirt cannot stick easily...

2. I ALWAYS insist that service folks write down DO NOT WASH on the service form, for all the obvious reasons. Dealership are very good (Crawley Audi) but they probably think I'm mad.

3. Average in my 2011 S4 over 9,000 miles of constant logging is precisely 23.7mpg - peaks of just over 30mpg on a long motorway run, but 22 or 23 around town. Perfectly acceptable however after a C5 RS6. Lowest so far recorded on a tank is 11.2mpg (guess where?!)

4. In my mind, without doubt the best and most capable all round car that Audi make, for sure. It was a hoon at Bedford Autodrome the other weekend (adjustable, agile, proper quick), does 4-up touring like trips to Le Mans very well and is a relaxing place to be with everything set to comfort (I have full ADS etc) on a wet and pi55y Friday night on the M1.

5. I have Tech Pack High with AMI etc, but I guess only the 'Blue Grommet' cable plugged-in, as I've not noticed a video function when the iPhone is connected. Does anyone have a Part No. for the magic Red Grommet version? Does it have red connectors or something? A picture would be grand!

6. Where's the setting for streaming bluetooth in the MMI please? I may have an older release I guess (although it's the 3G MMI), as my ADS is via the button on the centre console, rather than in MMI itself.

Thanks,.

..so I can see you would recommend Miracle Surrey?!? Checked his website and seems encouraging, still have not made up my mind as to what to do with the car when I collect it...

I looked into detailing quite a bit and got some quotes. Ended up going with detail my car who are based in Newbury. They applied ceramishield pro which is a nano sealant and should last a while after polishing out all the marks left by the idiot valeters at the dealership. Pricing was competitive compared to a lot of others out there. PM if you want to know.

5. Part number is Model R 4F0 051 510. Link to prove you need a red cable:

Have to say my salesman was fab. After pointing out I had the wrong one, they've ordered me the cable with the red grommet (and the USB cable which wasn't originally supplied)

6. I found mine under the telephone part of MMI, there is a section for settings and then Bluetooth audio. I understand its a new feature of the facelift.

I may be wrong(and hope I am) but I think that the red cable and streaming is only compatible with the 2012 MMI.

I suspect you're right. However, I've been told that there's a software update due for my car (which will probably trash my VMI, Oil Temp, Laptimer, Battery Meter, Mirror Turndown etc etc mods...) that will be loaded when the car is serviced next month. What are the chances of that bringing the functionality up to 2012 MY levels?
