It works purely as a mumsey hotrod with big leathery chairs.
It's a nice comfy family wagon with a bit of grunt, I get it if you have kids

A fair question. It's a case of new client, new location. I've been commuting in the S4 as a dd - and it's been great. I'll now be commuting via train and given the pitiful local station car park, it's only fit for a snotter. The SQ5 comes in as a family car which is a reasonable default car with serious grunt.

The S4 has been wonderful - but it is a car you respect rather than love.

Then leaves open the option of a weekend car to be determined at some stage in 2015.....R8, Cayman GTS, 36k B8 RS4....not sure yet.
So you are going from solely an S4 Avant, to an SQ5 plus a snotter for the station plus a toy for the weekend? Rock on!

Well 1 week into the new routine, the sq5 is an ideal family workhorse. I make a point of stretching it's legs too (it is derv after all) and that biturbo engine is a marvel. Overall, it's a blunt instrument but is suits our needs perfectly.

The major surprise for me is that I'm actually enjoying driving that the 03 crv to the station and back. There's something liberating about not having to worry about whether the interior will creak, thinking about depreciation etc. I think the weekday shed / weekend toy routine will work for me.

So now, decisions / prevarication around the next move: cayman, 911, r8? Hmm

Could probably stretch to a 991 S but I have an R8 itch to scratch.

Ha ha, absolutely loving the SQ5. A blunt instrument for sure but savage acceleration. Still prevaricating around the choice of weekend toy.
