Post by gdavison » Tue Aug 28, 2012 9:18 pm

Post here if you have a C6 variant Car which has had ticking wheel bearings - Mods can we skicky this ?

Include as much detail as possible

I'll start it

RS6 Avant - ticking started around 15K miles - "fixed" at 28K when we started to understand the problem and I went to get it fixed

Me too...please read my responses to threads on here.

RS6 Avant...08 plate

Started at 32000 miles...car currently on 36000miles....got really bad both fronts within 4000 miles...constantly doing it now even when NOT steering or carrying out low speed manoverues.

Booked into Audi (Teeside)...20th Sept 2012.

both front bearings to be replaced and "packed" with grease.

Audi UK and dealer goodwill.

Chrissy.

Started hearing a ticking when parking up at home at approx 30K. This gradually got worse to the point where i got a tick every time i turned the wheel, soon realised it was the bearings and at approx 34K, had both sides packed with grease. (luckily car was still a few months under manufacturers warranty and was told by service manager there was an issue with the RS6's, A8's, S8's, TPI etc.

Car currently at Audi with another problem, (a clunking noise when turning right) so far technician has changed multiple parts by process of elimination (wishbone, housing, control arm) but to no effect. So now being told the wheel bearing, hub, and associated parts to the hub to be replaced o/s.

If we want a permanent fix, I think some kind of petition signed by all with signatures and chassis numbers needs to be written up and sent directly to the top of Audi UK....if this is the wish of the masses then im happy to volunteer, or if anyone else thinks they could do a better job then please lets get something done. Like Porkafly says you cant shell out this sort of money on a Halo product to find its defunct in a fundamental aspect of its running gear! It is simply unacceptable.

Speedfr38ky.....that would be great if youre willing to do that??....no good me doing anything like that..i cant win an arguement with myself!!!!

Any details you need from me just let me know?

I can see this turning into a ..... "soft alloy wheels"...."DRC"....issue!!!!....etc etc etc....

But it is an issue and as you have said most of these cars cost in excess of 80k new!!!!!!!!!!!!........let alone the lesser A6 models which sound like thay also suffer?

Audi needs to recognise issue...and upgrade bearings or we will all be vivisting the dealers far more often than we like.

Hi Chris,

Yes am more than happy to do it !
As the motto goes "Who Dares Wins".

What i'll do is over the weekend ill start a thread on here and the other forum and set up an email address for people who wish to volunteer to send their names, chassis numbers and electronic signatures (or details as they wish) when there is enough to make an impact, I will send them with a covering letter by myself to the head honcho (forgotten his name, but have his details).

Audi need to recognise there is an cronic problem with these cars.

Best,
Adam.

I've not had it either yet but then I've only owned the car for a few months. However I know the car had new brake disk, pads and tyres when I bought it so it may well of had the bearings done. I will ask for a detailed report of work carried out and see if there is any mention and at what mileage.

Hi RS6chris,

Do you or anyone have a copy of tpi 1554967 that you can post as a pdf or add to Amars tech website

Would surely assist in building the case for all C6 audi owners.

I think to date Adam has had one response to his request to the petition to build a case together and get a permanent fix .....
