Just be thankful you don't own a C5, this car has got to be the most reliable RS Audi ever made, mine have been fine since replacement...

They told me they had renewed both.

Something tells me they've just "packed then with grease"

How the <beep> they do that I don't know on a sealed bearing?

I have to say. Audi are very good at the sales pitch, but I'm not so sure how good the dealers are at actually fixing problems. I had to take mine back four times just to get the tail gate sorted and only because it had the Audi extended warranty.
I haven't renewed too much money to be messed around with by dealers who only see a C6 every other year.
This may come back to bite me in the backside!!!!!!!
I'm hoping my local specialist will offer much better service and not waste my time and fob me off with bollocks.

Anyone had the bearings replaced or cleaned and re packed with grease under the extended warranty ?

Just had Mot (no problems at all :beerchug: ) and the dealer is telling me that the bearings are only clicking, have not failed so dont qualify under warranty replacement or cleaning !!! :audibash:

To be fair they have cleaned them before under "good will gesture" foc, that was 18 months ago, but want payment now.

I have another couple of items that they are claiming the same "not broken yet" so not covered under warranty

Have used this dealer for a very long time and always been ok, just begining to doubt them the last couple of visits.

My car was clicking from the front (front right) mostly. Bought 2 new SKF units to replace both of the front units on the car. My car was parked for the month of April and May, and after I came home at the end of May it has not been clicking........ Odd. So I have the 2 bearing sets in my workshop now. Im sure it will begin clicking again. Hahaha, but its been 2 weeks of silence now......

Ohhhh, and the bearings are COMPLETELY sealed 2rs and ZZ bearings. No way to repack them with grease or do anything else to them for that matter. Must be an urban legend.

Is this a problem specific to the C6? My C5 does it when low speed manouvring, I thought it was the CV joint.

I was always told by Audi it was a C6 variant issue :audibash:

Had mine replaced today, had it booked in at dealer (Ipswich) for suspension light fault and both wheel bearings under extended warranty. I took the mechanic out on demo to show the noise. He disagreed saying it was not the bearings but will try replacements and see , I also showed him the pages of this forum and the guys on here with the same problem. next day, Hey presto no noise - a surprised tech and a smug me!! hopefully this will filter through to other Audi techs that there is this problem. To be fair the tech and indeed the dealers were very good and it only cost me £250 which is my excess for warranty.
All in all a good result - we keep an eye/ear out for future noises.

Absolute bollocks IMO. I also have the Ceramics and even though they were retro fitted not long ago, my car has not had any wheel bearings issues from day one. Guessed I'm lucky then.
Too much power is barely enough.

Show them this thread!!!

Rob Chorley(now at Teeside Audi) admitted to me the bearings in the C6 platform(RS 6 specific) are a poor design and Audi are aware.

Also there is no real fix and it will probably happen again even when renewed sometime in future.

Been following this thread for some time now. I had the metallic clicking as described nothing else. Took it to my local specialist who said that sound isn't bearings!!! I told them about this thread and they couldn't remember the last time they did bearings on a C6.
Apart from clicking what else happens if you do nothing and what do these look like if they are actually knackered?
