Pondering a change and hearing a great deal on here about fuel economy, running costs, boot size etc etc.
If anybody has made the switch I am contemplating I'd really welcome 'real life user' comment please.

Cayenne s equals a nice SUV...but not even the third best cayenne (turbo, turbo s and gts)
C6 RS6 equals an iconic world beating superstar in Avant or sedan guise.
I would do it one hundred times out of one hundred.
If Audi sold it here I would UNDOUBTEDLY be driving one.

I thought that may be the response. Having driven neither I would do it. Although what use is that comment to anyone.

re real life comments ..
Fuel economy is "worse" in the C6, Boot IMO is "bigger" as its squarer and has a better size entry, cant comment of what things are like in the rear seats as I have never sat in either. I find the RS6 more comfortable on long runs, which is amazing as the Cayenne was also a comfy car as well. Performance wise, their is no comparison and handling is also way better due to lower centre of gravity etc. Off road capabilities of the RS6 have not been tested so cant comment on that

I do miss the park it any where of the Cayenne (we do a lot of walking, so used to dump it in all sorts of rutted and muddy car parks)
RS6 does not get as noticed by Joe public and if they do they are usually more appreciative of what it is, they are a lot rarer than Cayennes, so you'll hardly ever see another one but if you do flash lights and wave like a lunatic
Paintwork, interior finish, build quality very similar, maybe the Porsche winning out by a nose
Servicing and running costs RS6 is cheaper in general, however if its a specific RS6 part as opposed to a A6 part its probable most Audi dealers would need to get it ordered. Generally to date worse has been overnight, although some guys have had to wait a few days for parts to come from Germany (IIRC this was during the ceramic brake workshop actions and UK stock got used up). Tyre life about the same, the RS6 wears tyres evenly unlike the Cayenne which brutalised the outside edges of the fronts

You'll miss the elevated Driving Position....
If you like performance and are likely to use it then you'll loose very little in practicality, however if your not likely to use the performance then I would question such a shift and maybe consider the All Road.....
The RS6 (especially tuned) is so fast that you are into license loosing territory in around 7 seconds of full throttle from a standing start, or 2.5 seconds from 70MPH assuming your using the performance in a 70MPH limit. Just saying as if you abide by the law the RS6 would be wasted........

I went from C5 RS6 Plus to a new Porsche 997tt back in 2006, and in doing so gave up the best car I ever had, spent a fortune, kept it 6 months, hated it and went STRAIGHT back to a 40k RS6. Can't speak for a Cayenne, but the whole brand thing wasn't me at all.

I think everything's been said, but overall, compared with the Cayenne the only negatives for the C6 RS6 are APPALLING fuel consumption no matter how girly you drive, and lack of off road ability. If you are prepared to stomach those two factors, then I would safely say that for what it is (i.e. a large, super estate), the car simply has no equal in a mix of real world conditions. It will be my next family car after the C5 at some point. That being said, with over 2 tonnes with fluids, it ain't no sportscar!

Covered elsewhere, but high teens on a mixed bag, low 20s on a long run. Single digits if foot on the floor.
No, agreed, it isn't any worse than AMG Merc, or the M5. But, seriously, would you expect a bi-turbo 5l V10 to be anything other than a gallon guzzler?

OK, trick is to take a test drive, mixed roads, see what real mpg is for my right foot. Cayenne goes well in the snow with winter tyres, but its no off roader
