Speed limiter

One of the first things I did when I got my C6 was do a speed run. It was a spur of the moment thing having just picked up 2 good friends and 1 crazy Lithuanian lady who I'd never met before. Anyway, we were doing 165 indicated in the blink of an eye but then it was like hitting a wall.

I know I can take my car and £1000 down to the good folk at MRC and have not shy of 700PS as well as removing the limiter but I'd quite like to enjoy the car standard for another 6 months first. It's quite liberating having a main dealer warranty and no risk of it being invalidated.

What I'm asking is whether there is a simple way to just get the speed limiter removed without a) voiding the warranty and b) changing the engine map at all?

Not sure on how you can have it removed without software added.

I managed 184 mph and then i let go as the track was coming to an end. i did that on the second day i got the car. on the way home from the dealer i thought there was a limiter as it got to 155 then struggled but then after it went up so not sure whats going on there, its defo not mapped thats for sure.

Some cars came with the limit increased to 174mph. It should be on your options printout. That would probably give you 185 indicated. Mine unfortunately did not so I'm stuck with a pathetic 155 (or 165 indicated).

QS Tuning do just the speed limiter if you wish to keep the rest of the map standard;

Thanks F@tBoyF@t. I should have a chat with QST as they're quite conveniently located for me.

155 isn't enough when you're doing an autobahn trip with a friend who has a 3.0 TDI with a currently equal top speed. Perhaps a cheaper option would be to sabotage his somehow.

Waste of time just getting limiter removed and NOT mapping at same time...IMO.

The top end isnt achievable that often anyway..not without ending up in jail anyhow.....Accelaration and torque is what its all about.

Agreed with that statement Chris, but then mine is already de-restricted. It's more about how you get to the usable speed range rather than theoretical top end. I would rather enjoy the blast from 70 to xxxMPH then know it will eventually go past 160.

Found it odd that the first time I hit the limiter the clock read 172mph but this morning it wouldn't go past 167mph. Not a factory derestrict option either. Any ideas???

Possibly, but I thought the limiter was electronic and therefore would stop the car at the same speed every time?
Don't think my local stealer has a private road to check this out;)
