MRC
QS - I found Kim to be very helpful when we spoke a few weeks ago
any others?

Looking for Milltek system and 730+hp

Also whilst I remember, Carbon disc's do they eat through pads and are the pads a lot more expensive than std?

Cheers :blackrs4:

IMO.....MRC stage 2 + Gearbox map all day long with exhaust and air filters.

Ceramic brakes are very expensive... you need discs, calipers, splash guards, fitting kit and pads upfront and discs and pads for the rear ( steel rear calipers are the same as ceramic ones just different colour) Ceramic discs and pads last much longer than steel version... front ceramic pads just shy of £400 and rears just under £300 per set. You should be more worried in buying the ceramic discs and front calipers than to worry about the cost of pads... :bigblink:

Sorry maybe I wasn't too clear, I've seen some for sale already with ceramics so I was wondering about pad/disc life and replecement costs.

Ceramics should be for life, but they aren't always.

They are 5 figures to change, pads and discs.

I just need the pad price if discs are supposed to last for plenty of time.
I know the disc's are very expensive, somthing like a 6k option when new

No worries, I've now been informed that they're around £300 for front and £200 for the rear pads. Life approx the same as regular ones.

Hi guys,

First of all thank you for setting up this thread, it was invaluable when I was buying my RS6, which after months of searching around I finally got last week!

I spent a lot of time looking for an Avant with a 3G MMI system, but just couldn't find one at the right price (or from the right source). In the end I plumped for an Audi approved used one with 2G, mainly to get an Audi warranty on it given the price wasn't that different from a private sale.

So far so good, been loving every minute and my drive home includes a lot more B-roads then it used to!

I have a question though, mine has a black exhaust (rather then chrome, which goes well with the black bodywork). I have seen this on a couple of others for sale, but not sure if it signifies anything. Was it an option or does it signify something different about the exhaust system?

Thanks,

Luke.

1st thing 1st.... FON :biggrin3: and welcome to the forum.

I would suspect that you have a Milltek exhaust with the black tail pipes.

Hi,

Thanks, it is always good to see an active community (and one that doesn't report endless issues with the car... I used to own an Alfa...).

Thought it might be that, the only other reference I found to black exhaust tips was regarding a Milltek. It sounds plenty loud enough to me, so was wondering where the references to the standard exhaust not being noisy enough were coming from!

Could also be just the Black Optics kit from the factory. Have a look at the exhaust back boxes, if the flatten off on the bottom to be more flush with the bottom of the car, they are standard Audi but black optics. If they are round and and hang down, they are Milltek. With Black Optics from the factory you should also have black window surrounds, front grill, roof rails etc

As an example, here is my arse end will Millteks;

Would be surprised if it wasnt a standard audi exhaust, surely they wouldnt sell an approved used rs6 with warranty with a milltek on it

I had planned to get some photos up, but haven't had the chance yet.

It looks like it is just the black optics as the exhaust boxes are flush with the bottom of the rear bumper and don't look like the ones in your photo. Looks like I must just have sensitive ears :bigblink: Only the exhaust is black though, the remaining trim is all standard brushed aluminium.

Is the black just painton the exhaust (not ceramic)? There are a couple of bits I would like to touch up on there (little bit of flaking on the tips), but don't want to mess it up. I was planning on using some matt black exhaust paint, but would be interested to know if anyone else had any other thoughts.

Would black optics also include window trims and grill trim? If yours is only the exhaust it may be the previous owner may have just changed the exhaust? Sounds weird I know but I hate Chrome tips. I'm waiting on an after market exhaust with ceramic tips. Starting to lose interest as I'm having to wait until end of July and considering swapping mine for black tip but still OEM Audi.
