fuel consumption

HI everyone

I have just owned my RS6 for 10 days. Amazing experience, although had a few fast cars b4 ( evo's)
I use it only in town and can not get any more than 9-10 MPG. Is this normal.? This is based on normal driving with occasional booting on traffic lights.
I have seen people get around 15 MPG in town. How can I improve on it? I usually use automatic mode, occasionally sport but hardly paddle shifts.
Heard sty about remap of transmission? What does that do and how much cost, who can do in London? and if it is worth doing?
At the moment fuel cost me £200 per week , which is a bit more that I expected (£150)

Any advise appreciated
Andrew

leave it in Auto (ignore S) and stop booting it at lights ;)

If you got warranty, get it checked out at the dealers incase you have a boost leak.
You should be getting mid teens at least.

Agree with GDav,

Its a shocker in town.

Re Mapping, MRC and Unit 20 ( ? Grizzs outfit I beleive ) seem most favoured on here, check through the mapping posts etc. The consensus seems to be stage 1 and a gear box map adds fun and when being careful aids consumption, however boot it and have the fun and the consumption drops.

Sadly I ( "we" I think I can safely say ) have concluded its not a cheap "beast" to run. Many have spoken before of counting the "Smiles per Gallon" over the MPg. I think this comment says it all really.

Continue to enjoy all the same,

Cheers

What is it like compared to the C5 RS6, I have been running 1 for 5.5 yrs and done 60k in it now, when I first got I used to get 160-180 per 70L and now I get 280 - 300 per tank. If lucky and on a good run 340miles.

Up to change and being eyeing up the C6 for a year, having been offered 1 and a cayenne Turbo I wonder which to go for.

Cayenne I have driven so know the MPG which is not far off the C5.

been told it is struggle to get over 15-16 mpg even on a run, is this the case?

I get 16-17 mpg average .. on a run if you just set cruise at 70 and just point it , you'll see 24 mpg, on a run driving yourself you'll see 22

Economy is slightly worse than a C5.
But boy is it worth it ;)

Slightly I can manage

Was scared off by sub 10mpg
Tyres 4k miles

Brakes 6k miles

But looking at it all goes hand in hand

Less MPG greater tyre and brake wear

Jury still out on cayenne got a puppy last weekend do need the boot size as big as pods to fit dog and luggage in now

:bash:

tyres .. most of us get 10K out of the pirelli's .. I must have aged ;) as my current set are on about 14k and will get another 2 to 3 K I reckon

Brakes - the pads on mine lasted 20K .. I had to do front disks because of a track day and low pads - oops .. to be honest probably could have got the skimmed .. Most folks reckon that 22 - 25K out of a set of front pads .. rears would be a fair bit more

My Disks :rocker: a u d i s r s. c o m / about24558.html < Link has extra speces coz of the "unaffiliated link" thingy

Did 200 miles today, into W London, down to QST and back to Essex got 24mpg easy!

Actually was early for QST so trundled along and got it to near 26mpg... that shocked em' !!!

22mpg when home now after a bit of a play on the M25/A13.

in 30months my DIS is showing 16.3mpg Ave and I have a fairly varied usage.

Sounds good.

I'm thinking the guy I spoke to is full of Sh*t and thought I would be impressed by the inflated running costs.

Cayenne booked for 111 point check Weds, think I will be jumping Brand, boot is much bigger

Hi Guys

Thanks for all posts

Still driving in London I only get around 170 MPG per 70L, which is not great.
Tried everything , going on Auto only, no booting etc. Vehicle was checked by Audi and was told all is fine with fuel.
I doubt I will ever get near 200 or over . Really surprised how you guys manage to get up to 330 MPG. I reckon this may be possible on Motorway at 60 MPH !!!

Anyway if this is how it is I will just enjoy the ride and do not look at fuel gauge until it asks for fill up. My only worry when I go to Europe for Christmas and I miss services and will not make to another . This happened to me in Mitsu EVO X and it was minus ten outside and I had to wait for help with all my family looking with anger at me!!

Wow, shows that on a run you can eek good economy out of it. The opposite to Andrew, I'm actually surprised how much I can get from my B6 S4 on a run. Lighter more aerodynamic saloons with the longer gearing auto box can get more, but I'm very happy! Andrew, if most of your trips are around London, you not got a daily hack you can use?
