Sagging Leather

Post by mcfreedom » Sat Jan 16, 2010 1:20 am

Has anyone else a problem with the leather going 'baggy' particularly on the drivers seat around the centre stitching??

Bradford Audi have replaced TWO drivers seats in mine, and the second one is now showing signs of 'sagging' again after only 2000 at most.

Becoming a proper ball arch now!! Bradford Audi are <beep> (rude, patronizing, and generally useless) and they take the car for two days every time.

Just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem??

the leather panel is probably to big and needs another row of stitching or more foam under the cover. My friend is a trimmer and can sort it for you and will probably give you a discount for a whizz around the block  MJ Interiors 01274 533370

Cant say I've noticed Mcfreedom (87kilos, Silver Leather and normal non sport seats) .. I guess some one has to ask .. Are any of the drivers errr .. "large" in size

Not sure if a colouring process can change leather's properties, but just in case . .what colour are your seats .. And are they the optional Sports ones ?

Well I'm 60 Kilos exactly, so not exactly lardy.

Mine are black and just the standard Recaros.

I've spoke to a really good friend of mine that works at Peterborough Audi, and apparently it's a REALLY common problem. Many returns of TT's

Good data points .. Something to look out for and "fix if required" before warranty expires

It's not my seats that are sagging, it's my arse. :assflash:

I don't think my warranty ie BUPA will cover a nip and tuck.

A chap that lives close to me and who owns a trimming business said the most common problem is the heating element under the seat. As it heats it changes shape ever so slight and contracts. There's then not the right tension under the leather and is begins to sag. Just like human skin does once the fat/muscle starts to go when you get a bit older!

Best cure he said was not to use the heated seats from new! Which then defeats the object of having them somewhat! You'd think that after all these years car makers would have figured this out.

I'm of the opinion, that for £88,000 Audi should be able to get the car perfect in every way!!

I've had quite a few brand new cars, and NEVER had the same amount of problems. Don't think if you added them all together they would get near the amount if had with the Audi. The car has had more time in the Audi dealship than out (about 14 days so far)!!!

Think it's fair to say this will be the last Audi I ever buy!! Think I'll stick to Porsche in the future. 14 months, and not one problem yet, not even a service!!
