Distracting road noise

Has anyone experienced excessive harmonic patter or "rumble" (on top of the normal tyre whoosh) on all but the very smoothest surface. This seems to start at appox 20mph.

I'm on Dunlops.
Occasionally I get an obtrusive rumble sound, on unusual sufaces like concrete but generally I don't have a problem.

I've got Dunlop Winter 3D sport tires on and the engine is far noisier than the tires.

Save for particularly rough or patterned surfaces, the engine covers the tires noise.

I'm on pirelli's. I've not noticed any rumbles but I do get terrible tram lining. The tyres are only 2500 miles from new.
I'll be changing to goodyear eagle f1's as soon as these are worn out. I always found them to be an exceptional tyre.

Not sure you can get Eagle F1s in the size or speed category. I've looked previously, choice of tyres is very limited.

I'm on Pirelli's, can't say I've noticed... will have a listen next time out now but the fact I've not notice may be the answer.

Cripes did that make sense!!
