I'm in the market for an RS6 Avant - advice please

Hi there,
I would appreciate some advice from recent owners or non owner experts re what I should be going for in terms of year and spec.
I have just had a conversation with a sales person who said that all RS6 Avants on the market are 2008 chasis even though some are registered in 2009. Is this true? If so, what will the changes, if any, be on a 2009 chasis car?
I was thinking of waiting a bit, but have noticed that stock seems to be moving, plus insurance quotes are in and I am in the mood to buy. Any ideas on what kind of a deal (cash purchase) should I be looking for?
I am a newbie to this forum and really would appreciate your counsel.
James

You may want to take a look here

If you're after an Avant (or Saloon for that matter) then you'll have to look at the cars that are out there today.

Thanks Doodlebug.
I guess it makes sense. It echoes what Clarkson said at the end of the latest TG series when he was driving the big engined Aston that it was probably the last of its kind and the likes of which will probably not be seen again. I guess we'll all be driving round in supercharged 2CV's in ten years time! Which is yet another reason to get an RS6

Hi James,
I think our chat yesterday could turn out to have a quite expensive repercussions.
I've started looking again too...

Hi Gav,
It's all your fault.
Our chat yesterday prompted me to come out of the RS6 closet and publicly declare my interest in an RS6 Avant on this forum.
However, I've just spoken to a dealer, I am now trying to get over the disappointing part exchange value of my existing car. Furthermore, a part of me would feel resentful that someone will get such an amazing set of wheels for a banker's lunch.
I need to talk, I'll get your number from management.
Maybe The Priory should set up a second A.A. - Audiholics Anonymous.

Hi Jeremy,
It's an ABT A6 Avant 3.0tdi.
http://www.abt-sportsline-uk.com/page12.htm
19" diamond cut wheels
Lowered with ABT sports suspension
Sports pipes
ABT aerodynamic package front, sides, back and rear spoiler
AMD remap
In reality, I love the car, it sounds like a V8 drives well etc and I know I shouldn't mention fuel consumption on this forum but it does around 35 to 38 mpg while cruising at 90mph (in Germany).
James.
