Upgraded clutches for 6HP28?

Post by Jandro » Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:26 pm

Hi... Any sugestion where to buy it?
The gearbox sometimes messes up when shifting in third and fourth, so I will completely rebuild it, but I would like to insert reinforced clutches if there are any to buy.

A few years ago I was looking at an gearbox upgrade from RS-engineering, 1400nm capable, price was around 3500€. I sent them message few days ago, now they asking 10.500,00 euros for that?!?!?

So i'm looking for upgrated clutches only...
Why not stock clutches? Plan is 900-1000hp next year so maybe better to put stronger one now when i rebuilt gearbox.

Thanks all for helping me!

For my deep memory I think Exedy did a "stage 2" set of clutches for the gearbox.

The go-to solution for increasing torque capability is to increase the number of frictions which means reducing their thickness. Of course this means its not just a case of changing the frictions but also the steels. The effect this has is simply to move the weak point to another component, in this case the input shaft predominantly, but dont ignore the converter. There are options out there if you fish enough, or you could hand over your wallet to one of the offerings out there that will reportedly do this for you, to varying degrees. Regardless you will need to remap the box accordingly to take full advantage of the mods.
