RPM guage problems

Hello guys!

My guage fails every now and then, only from start, never during ride. When it occurs it's completly stone dead. I can start the car several times before it pops up again.
Have any one experienced the same thing, or can suggest what couses this?
There is a new battery in the car now as this have gone flat a couple of times, and I know that a bad battery can couse several different problems.
