Had Audi developed a V8 FSI turbo, they would doubtless have dropped the compression ratio to around 9.5, and it would have worked very well.

And that's pretty much what they did with the C7 S6, S7, S8, RS6 and RS7, whose engine, although heavily developed, is based on the V10 with 2 cylinders removed. The bore and the stroke and the inlet valves are identical, for example.

I agree about the C7 gearbox. Every car that upgraded from the ZF 6HP to the 8HP had a step change improvement in performance and economy.

which 8hp RS6 C7 comes?

Not much happened recently. I'll update the threat when I make progress.

The RS7 C7 uses the 8HP55A gearbox, generically referred to by Audi as the OBK transmission. I'm not sure if it would be suitable to use on the C6. It would be worth finding out whether it's a drive by wire gearbox.
