Some brave soul bought an RS6 with 215,000 miles from a salvage yard with sackfull of problems, and has started making videos about his presumably long and expensive journey.

I'm not sure where this is going, but it will be an interesting ride.

I suspect either a pcv system failure or/and turbos.

What else can cause such a huge amount of oil in the intercoolers?

Agreed. Would anyone else have bought that car? I think I would, depending on how expensive it was.

Bit surprised by the rust on the rear arches though. I thought Audis were galvanised?

Galvanizing doesn't last forever - it's a sacrificial coating really, scratch through to the base metal and you'll get rust.

There was one time prior to all the work I've done when it came close - I drained 750ml from the right hose and 250 from the left but it's nothing like that now. What isn't shown in that video is how much continued to drain from the intercoolers and how much stayed in the bottom tanks 'cos the cooler inlet is actually higher than the base of the cooler.
Once I can get some fuel I'll be able to chase my problem a bit more - I have some theories to investigate.

After some more work just after my last post I was 99% certain that my problem is down to failure of the non-return valves in the pipes between the air boxes and turbo oil return air pipes. I 'freed' them rather crudely by alternately filling them with penetrant and giving them a good smack on my bench for a few minutes. Since then there's been very little oil in the pipes compared to previously.
I ordered replacement pipes a day or so before the latest video was posted - I suspect Audi will be wondering what's going on.

Are these valves sold with the pipes? What are their part numbers?

Oh yes - you can't buy just the valves.
07L 103 215 T for the right and 07L 103 215 AB for the left.
Not a lot of change out of £200.

Changing the right is long-winded but quite easy, changing the left isn't - as in it takes a fair bit longer and isn't anything like as easy.

Pathetic. What do they expect you to do? Test every part you buy?

£200 sounds steep, so I looked around. If you search for "aluminium non return valve" in the usual sources you get huge number of options...

I've been caught out with defective/unsuitable parts a fair number of times over the years so if I can safely test things before fitting I do so. Luckily for both my sanity and my wallet I had the good sense to test these valves as soon as I arrived home - pity I didn't actually do that in the dealer's parts department, a mistake I won't make when the replacement arrives.
RH unit is perfect - open in one direction and airtight in the other. LH unit is open in one direction but in the other direction is only slightly restricted and emits a sound like a hunter's duck call.
