Hi everyone
I've just come back from a weekend away with friends, half way through the journey I noticed a squeaking sound from the rear ,as we got to our destination I noticed that it got louder ,thought it was probably a wheel bearing, then on our way home today the screeching has got louder but only when foot is off the excelorater soon as you slightly go back on the throttle the noise stops ,dropped my friends off the noise virtually disappears so with a empty boot and no rear passengers you can hardly hear the screeching. Has Anyone else had these problems or no what it could be many thanks Jon

Screeching noise
Re: Screeching noise
Failed rear diff bearings (needle type) is the most likely cause and I had exactly the same issue with the same symptoms. As mine was running 900hp I didn't want another OEM diff fitted so I went with an aftermarket solution from Quaife inside the OEM Audi housing (expensive but great) but, if your cars still stock (or stage 2) then a second hand replacement diff might be the cheapest option as a repair will be £1k+ (IIRC from quotes at the time) and a a replacement full OEM diff from Audi was IIRC £6k+.
As it's been 4+ years I'd have a ring around and see if any of the specialists can get a repair done cheaper now, things may have changed.
