156k miles on a C6 RS6 is still low miles for one Ricky has worked on 8)

Yours is very similar to mine!
Well, Ricky currently has the pleasure of the "problem child" at the moment, his exact words the other day were "well, its not horrendous" so I am going to take that as praise

He is happy with compression/leak test results at least that is going someway to settling my nerves of it blowing its cock off on the first WOT run and having to send it straight back to him.

Fingers crossed and all that jazz :-)

Why do people want to avoid the X or H pipes?

I agree with you, but wonder what your reasons are.

Cheers, Nick
Weight reduction

I may be wrong (happens often according to the long haired general of the household) but I was under the impression that X or H pipes (when done correctly) were to aid naturally aspirated engines in positive scavenging or something like that...they had little use in turbo applications other than reducing the noise level. So decided to Foxtrot-Oscar the X pipe, Miltek couldn't be arsed with me so got the kit from KW Performance GmBH for about £1k delivered. Ze Germans don't seem to want the X pipe either so ticked a box for me.

Fortunately the majority of my neighbours are petrolheads, so should be fine for a nice 6am cold start in the middle of winter :-)

X/H-pipe - As well as NA scavenging, any cross over helps a turbo by with reducing back-pressure but, if you've already got big enough pipes from the turbo to the tip (say 3in min) then you don't need the cross-pipe as the single exhaust per bank can cope with the amount of gas flow, even upto 1000hp, with no issues.

I've not run any cross-pipes whilst running 900hp with 3.5in to 3in DP's and 3in for the rest of the system and there's no issues with back pressure.
