hi gents,

I'm in the market for RS6 C6.

I was wondering is there an easy way to spot a car with 3G MMI?

In addition, are there any visual difference/s in body or equipment to help me select 'updated' C6?

The only way i kno is the ‘knob’ you twist - 2g is ‘flat’, 3g has a ‘nipple’ on it. Search on here...im sure thats where ive seen it.

AFAIK

Apart from the joystick on the rotary controller, they also have chrome on handbrake switch, if they have keyless then they have the round chrome start button.

I also believe all the "plus's" have 3G

For 3G cars there is also a SD card reader with two slots built into the CD/DVD unit IIRC.

All saloons and pluses have 3G. Few normal avants have it. Late 2008 built cars onwards. Rule of thumb 58 plate onwards however that’s not strict as so many cars were sat awaiting registration. You’ll find 2G 09 cars.

If you’re looking for an RS6 holding out for 3G on an avant could mean you never find the right car.

Last RS i had (58plate) was supplied w/ 2G hence the ask. Not that it matters much but 3G would be a nice ‘upgrade’ .

Guy on eBay can upgrade a 2g car to 3G for £1100. I’d rather get Apple CarPlay installed for £400.

I've got 3g plus and Apple Car play/ Android Auto and to be honest I prefer the MMI 3G plus to android/apple alternative

Why not just get RSNav? I ran with that for a while, liked it a lot. Audi MMI will never be as good from 10 years ago, 2G or 3G. And exactly - if you try to find the exact car with 3G, you’ll probably miss some otherwise good ones.

I put it into my eBay watch list and after a few days they offered a discount. I’d buy one myself but at this moment in time I don’t need another job on the to do list.

At the very bottom of the listing it says "only suitable for Audi 2010+"

I bought a similar system from.someone who had been told it would work on his RS6 only to find that it only worked on MMI 3G on the RS6

Be worth checking as the images show that it’s compatible on a 2g high.
