Is this the correct part for an RS6 Avant? Also whats the script with fitting? Does it require modification?

They are fitted just like the stock ARBs. No modification and no problems installing them.

They are the best value for money mod you can do, I was shocked at how the steering had more weight and feel, and it reduces under steer and makes the car more balanced through the corners, I had them fitted by a vag specialist, but when having 3 inch down pipes fitted MRC modded the arb brackets slightly as the ARB was rubbing slightly

I fitted them on mine and extra work was need. The front bar need an extra bush between the arb and droplinks to avoid exessive stress on the c link as the front arb is about 20mm too narrow and the casting it installs into need some grinding for clearance of the locating collar. The rear needed spacing back 6mm with spacer plates as the ends of the rear arb touched the drive shafts. My car is lowered, so that could be why i need addition work

Were the extra bits you used custom or off the shelf? Just ordered the KW springs and H&R ARBs.

What setting do people recommend for the bars?

I just ordered these myself. It appears the front is 32mm as oem, while the rear +3mm thicker.
I intent to use the middle setting for both front and rear
