Unidentified noise - help

Post by Doug_RS6 » Sun Sep 06, 2020 1:03 pm

So I'm trying to identify this noise. It comes from the offside front and only seems to appear after the car has some heat in it. The noise occurs when the suspension travels or when the steering is turned. There is no play in any joints. I've attached a video of the noise.

Bad strut bearing?

See I had wondered but being that it's double wishbones. The strut doesn't rotate. I've order new track control arms and anti roll bar links as they look a bit worn.

Turns out that it was a bad lower ball joint on the track control arm.

Glad you found it. Are they replaceable or is it like other modern cars where the whole arm has to be done?

Whole arm replacement. Not massively expensive and a simple enough job with basic tools.
