Possible to run non-RS6 headlights on a RS6?

So my adjuster tab broke, and the right headlight won't point left and right. Since I was already considering sending them to Trups for an upgrade, I think this would make it a great opportunity to do it. But the hitch is I need the car in the meantime so I can't drive it without headlights.

I am tempted to buy some "throwaway" (relatively speaking, maybe $400-500 for a dirty set) of xenon headlights from a similar year A6 (2008-2009 or so). Would this work? Or would I need VCDS coding, rewiring, etc?
