Thanks, I had a read through yesterday. Just need the bits to arrive and I'll get the mechatronic unit off and have a look.

It seems the service procedure is pretty much the same across the brands and models of HP6 (except for the 19/21) and there are some good videos on how to do a service with sleeves. It seems the only thing that really differs is the oil pan/filter.

Just some more general info on the ZF boxes -

General ZF info with some specific 6HP28A61 info regarding torquing bolts, fault finding etc - https://www.europeantransmissions.com/B ... cement.pdf

ZF's own small "aftermarket" parts list (mainly replacement parts) - https://aftermarket.zf.com/remotemedia/ ... rts-en.pdf

Bigger Parts catalogue but I'm not sure the actual part numbers are ZF ones TBH - https://www.automaticchoice.es/Catalogo ... 6hp26a.pdf - It has more than just 26A in it.

Confirmation from ZF regarding the ZF's internal part number for the 6HP28A61 - https://aftermarket.zf.com/us/united-st ... lytree.pdf

Nice one, thanks. The parts just arrived, so that first doc will definitely be handy

Hmmm another issue. Despite specifically saying it will fit the RS6, the filter is different. The filter that was on the car has a lower pickup. I'm going to guess that this is fairly important and it would be better for me to just clean out the old unit and return this one?

Also, the ZF part number on the original is:

ZF 0501223001

Searching this seems to get more accurate results than even the Audi part number I was given.

Doesn't seem like there's much available in the UK though

Reading through the ZF parts catalogue, even they are giving misinformation!

"0501 216 272
Connector sleeve, fits all ZF 6 speed transmissions."

Not true! Ours doesn't have this sleeve.

"0501 219 952
Adapter for all 6HP26/28/32 applications.
Mechatronic seal adapter, fits between mechatronic and
transmission housing."

Again, not true! I got this part with my sleeve kit and it's about half the height of the unit in our trans. I'm glad I bought one from Audi.

This document mentions the A61, so it's not like it didn't exist when it was created. My trans also has a main parts list of 1068, the same as mentioned in their doc.

Done, did the fill last night but it was too warm to check level, so just d that now. Haven't opened her up yet but she's driving fine so far. Ended up cleaning the old filter and gasket and using those.
