Hello Crew,
Did anyone else experienced a battery voltage drop over the night ? My voltage seem to be going down by 0,1 over night. Got a brand new VARTA battery 110 Ah / 920 A
Alternator charging at 13,9 - 14 V. Also checked few times if there is anything switch on in the car while im not driving but cant find anything. Any info appreciated.
regards
Arek
Battery voltage dropping over night
Re: Battery voltage dropping over night
Personally i don't think this is an issue but it may be worth checking with manufacturer on tolerance / battery behaviour when exposed to certain temperature/s.
I'd also suggest to scan the car (via VCDS if you have access to it) to check if you see any errors that could cause voltage drop.

Re: Battery voltage dropping over night
Battery voltage is difficult to measure properly. Modern cars take a long time to shut down after switching off and locking, so the load on the battery declines slowly and steadily, and the voltage recovers slowly. The actual time that you take the measurement has a large bearing on the voltage.
What voltage are you actually measuring? 14.0V is the normal charging voltage. 14.4V is the normal maximum (depending on temperature) and 12.4V is the usual minimum. Any less than that for extended periods, and you should stick a trickle charger on to preserve the battery, otherwise the plates start to calcify.

welwynnick thanks for reply.
Atm my voltage on engine running is from 13.9 - 14.1
Funny enough went for holiday and left the car for two weeks in the airport parking thought the battery will be dead but it started without a problem...
Before i have disconnect in car phone from its charger perhaps that whats causing battery drain ?
