Hi I don't know I'm afraid as they could have been replaced over the years. What I can say is that I only replaced them because I'm anal like that, I have no misfires on
Vagcom with these, and when replaced with the new ones I felt no difference whatsoever. I simply replaced them as I live in France now and didn't want to be stranded if one did fail so was limiting y failure points.
£100 is my asking price.
I've listed prices on the F/S post, I'll stick a link up here -

just slightly off topic re cam sensors - are they also prone to failure?

Coil packs can be its dam warm where they have to operate.

The ambient operating temperature for coil packs is typically that of the engine coolant. I verified this with temp sensitive tape on a similar car. They get hotter because of the electrical load, and even hotter on tuned cars. Unless plugs with a narrower gap are fitted, the coils have to work harder because the plugs need a higher voltage to fire when the charge air pressure is higher (it's Paschen's law) so there's more thermal load on the coils.

hey Nick - thx for comprehensive insight.
Is there a way to diagnose coils w/o taking them out? e.g. via
VCDS for instance.

It's something I've had difficulty with before, but the RS6 has the advantage of individual coils, so you can test by substitution.
VCDS or any OBD2 reader can you give you misfire codes that isolate a particular cylinder, but I doubt it can identify whether it's the plug or the coil - you have to switch them to confirm the cause.
It's more difficult when there's one coil pack for the whole bank, so count your blessings.
