Hi does this need enabled in the software or does it require some physical parts?

Both. I casually looked into this sometime back. The pieces you need depend on whether you have the park assist camera and on which tv unit (analogue or hybrid DTV).
If you don't have the camera you'll need the cable to take the signal from the rear of the car to the MMI display. You need a tv unit and then possibly an aerial unit - the hybrid unit needs 2 two I think, the analogue unit takes a signal from the existing aerial.
You then need to enable the stuff.
However, what I've just written could well be incorrect - I found so much conflicting information that I decided that life wasn't long enough and the tv was another thing I could live without.
