Info needed for Big turbos projects

Post by the dog » Mon Nov 11, 2019 10:46 am

Hi

I just got a Rs6 C6. Since I have a history with my Audi , to never leave them alone, i would like to ask some questions... (tried gather infors from the forum, couldn't find what I am looking for)

1. The ZF gearbox. Does the converter have a stall rpm? Does anyone offer a LC tune for this car? What is a typical 0-60 time on this cars? How far can we push it (how much tq will it handle)
2. Engine. is 1000whp achievable on stock internals? How high can it rev (stock and update valves/springs)? I know it was different crankshaft and its missing balancing shafts.
Anyone have any flow chart measurements on the intake ports and exhaust ports vs the R8 heads? Any other weak parts I should know about?
3. Turbos. Anyone fitted large turbo (not hybrid) .Is there room for mid or large frame turbos ?
4. Ecu. Anyone have a bolt on aftermarket ecu solution which is able to control 10 extra port injectors ?

Have some experience with project cars. Almost all of my car are project cars (and never run :( ) . I have built a 2.0tfsi to S3 8p to 800whp, S3 8v 2.0TSI to 700whp (rebuilding engine as we speak :) ) A3 750whp VR6 3.2turbo, my drag race car S4 b5 2.7T 975whp) . I have also tune a friend R8 v10 with a Vf supercharger kit but bone stock engine.
I am sure I will end up grenading the stock RS6 engine but my goal is to fit the 2x 9180 EFR turbos with a built engine.
But first I want to know what I am dealing with. Any info will be appreciated.

Hi Dog, have you read these threads - there's quite a bit of information:

The V10TT is a very tunable engine because of low boost from the factory and good raw ingredients:
Lots of cc's, cylinders & valves, high revving, deep breathing top end, strong bottom end, and moderate CR.
The engine is based on the Q7 4.2 TFSI V8, plus 2 cylinders, 2 turbos and complex cooling and lubrication systems; but minus forged pistons.
At the flywheel, you can get 750bhp with a remap, filters and downpipes.
1000bhp with bigger turbos and upgrades to intake, exhaust, fuel pumps, injectors and gearbox, but stock manifolds and internals.
There are lots of tuners in the US who have taken similar Gallardo and Huracan engines well beyond that (though not with stock engines).
Unfortunately the RS6 doesn't have much space for the intake, exhaust and cooling mods that would be needed.
Fitting large turbos would be difficult indeed, but it doesn't sound like you want to take no for an answer??
